Lucky lucky
I got this fortune cookie with a coffee on Orchard Rd, Singapore. Singapore is too nice and organised. The rail system is so good even I could use it.I have been fotunate so far and good fortune has travelled with me to Bangkok. I was exhausted by the time I got here last night, but I bravely resisted the BHT700 temptation to go to my accomodation in a taxi and caught the airport bus (BHT100). It pulled up just as I bought my ticket. I knew the address of where I was staying but the street numbers in Bangkok do not go sequentially, or logically. I figured I'd just wheel my backpack until I found the Sawasdee Inn.
I started to panic as we got closer and I saw Khao San Rd on a Saturday night. Crazy! I immediately resolved to head to the nearest accomodation with a vacancy sign. The bus finally stopped and I looked out the window, directly into the entrance of the Sawasdee inn.
I will be here for a few days, but am already over the party crowd. The Thais seem to be too. It is hard to raise a smile out of some of the locals working in this area. I can't say that I blame them. Still, by smiling first, being polite and lots of korp-koon ka's (thank you's) I don't seem to be doing too badly so far.
