The yolks on me *language warning*

I heard on the radio today that Nov 27 is the unluckiest day of the year. I considered staying in bed all day (also because it was pissing down rain and blowing it's tits off, 'scuse the french) but I had to move out of Spiddal and in to Galway. After lugging my 18 kg bag down to the main road (about 200 metres) in the dark and the rain at 5.30 pm, and getting covered in water everytime a car went passed, I realised I'd missed the last bus and would have to pay 25 euro for a taxi into Galway.

Sure, I had a lovely taxi driver who played Johnny Cash and let me off 60 cents (about the equivalent of $20 australian dollars), then I checked into a hostel that looked great in the daytime a few days ago, but turns out to have bad taste in music, loud Australian 18 year old girls who think it's funny to build a pyramid out of cider cans, no heaters that work and not enough keys to go around, so I have to ask the receptionist to go upstairs and unlock my door everytime I want to get to my bag.

I am sharing a 6 bed dorm with at least 3 strange men, I'm trying to be cool about the whole mixed dorm thing, but I know I am going to snore and talk my head off in my sleep and they are going to stink out the loo!
I have to walk down 2 flights of stairs to go outside everytime I want a cigarette (I know I should give up, but I have cut down, and I still have dutyfree!) I'm bad enough at sharing a house (as Linc, Jo, Michelle and others can confirm), let alone sharing a room, with 5 people! This is the first time I've had to do it and I know I am behaving like a bit of a sook. I'm sure I'll get used to it (I can't afford a single room anyway), but the idea of strangers hearing me mutter and snore in my sleep and seeing me first thing in the morning takes some getting used to.

To top off my day, I walked out on the street to get something to eat, and some idiots threw an egg at me! Then they drove past and did it again. Fuckers!

A hamburger and chips, two Guinesses, a block of organic chocolate and a sympathetic shoulder and a rant later, I'm starting to see the funny side, but still looking forward to November 28th (only 40 minutes away).

Drove down to County Kerry on the weekend with Sean for his work. I saw a live broadcast of the news (in gaelic, so still don't know whats news), the western-most town in Europe, gale force winds and my first ever castle (it was smaller than I expected).
