Sick of pizza?

Sometimes finally seeing something you've always wanted to see, can be a bit of a disappointment. Mouth of Truth.
After gorgeous Venice, Rome is disappointing for me. It’s cool to see the Pantheon, and the Vatican, but the town itself doesn’t have the lovely something that I look for. It’s not a warm city and certainly not relaxed. The place is crowded with bitching tourists and rude locals. Or maybe I’m just tired.
Welcome to the Vatican, St Peter's Basillica

Poor St Peter's foot, rubbed away for good luck.

St Peter's Plaza

Just walking down the street.

The remains of St Valentine

Anyway, I’m going to check off a few ‘must see’ places, then move on.
Around the corner, the Pantheon.

One highlight though, was heading home yesterday afternoon I heard music and a huge crowd at Circus Maximus. I thought it was a protest, it turned out to be a huge gay rights parade, sexy boys, transvestites, dragqueens, lesbians, boobs out, Madonna music, whistles, glitter, confetti and dancing in the streets.
I jumped in the middle of it and walked, danced all the way to the end. We walked past the Colluseum, it was the first time I’d seen it, and I hardly even noticed it. It was a nice break from the Italian machismo.
