Back in Luang Prabang

I have been north for a few days to a quiet little town called Nong Khaiw. I stayed in a basic little $3 hut with a million dollar view of the river (Nam Ou) and amazing rocky hills with low mists and clouds swirling around everywhere.

There was no phones, no internet and I washed under a cold water tap every day, am getting tougher. I played with some kids, finished my book, met some interesting other travellers, explored some caves, went for walks and had many afternoon naps. Finally, after 5 days I started to get bought and caught a slowboat back down to Luang Prabang. It was a nice boat, only 7 other passengers. The scenery was spectacular.

I got back exhausted last night but still ended up having a big night last night. Caught up with a kiwi and a brit from the boat and had a few Lao cocktails, then we ended up buying a bottle of tiger whiskey, I locked myself out of my bathroom, and the brit and I stayed up all night and went to see the monks do alms this morning at 6 am, because we hadn't seen it yet and both of us are leaving soon.

We are a little bit ashamed today of going out drunk to see the monks, but at least we saw it, and monks are forgiving, we hope.

I will stay here in Luang Prabang until Sunday, when I fly back to Chiang Mai for one night, then it is finally of to Lampang on Monday and the Elephant Sanctuary at 8.30 am sharp on Tuesday. I am looking forward to it.

I have so many photos to show, but not with me today, I just wanted to put a note up because I have been out of touch for a few days. More adventures, with pics, to follow.
