Luang Prabang

Wat Long Khun, across the Mekong from Luang Prabang. I love this photo, I couldn't believe it when I saw the kittens nestled in the buddha's hands in this dusty, out of the way temple. They went straight back to sleep after I flashed them.
Nam Khan

My favourite spot is Luang Prabang is sitting the low wall along That Kingkitsarat below PhuSi watching the slow activity on the Nam Khan. A spot not even mentioned in my guidebook, this is a lovely place to watch life go by. More locals stop and sit here than tourists. Today I saw them practicing for the big boat races a that are happening on the 23rd (I will be gone by then). Late at night it is a bit of a ‘Lover’s Lane’, young Laos couples park their motorbike and sit quietly, watching the moon on the water.
