Galway

After my ranting last post, I want everyone to know that I am adjusting to Irish/Galway life. I'm getting used to blustering winds, numb fingers, expensive prices, I'm even getting used to the hostel.

After sending out an email SOS for anyone with contacts in Galway on Wednesday, I went out to Tigh Neachtans and made some friends, a few pints later I ended up on a catamaran at 2 am in the morning drinking red wine and eating chocolates. Once I stopped feeling sorry for myself and did something positive, things started falling in to place. I walked down shop sreet tonight (main shopping and pub district) and bumped in to 2(!) people I (kind of) knew.

Last night I dragged Sean out to a gourmet wine and food tasting for charity. We ate smokey cheeses, whiskey chocolates, christmas pudding with my first brandy butter, thai, shortbread, smoked salmon, and more chocolate (in about that order). We elbowed out the flush cheeked oldies and drank wines from France, Chile, Australia, Spain, South Africa, Argentina.
It has hardly rained for the last couple of days, and the sun even came out for a while today, so here are some more pics of beautiful, friendly Galway.
